Dyptich

Tug-O-War

The Effects of Good Hygene

Shouldnt't Have Eaten That!!
For my Dyptichs I decided to use Danielle Voelkel as the main model. My personal favorite is the Tug-O -War one because it really looks like she's playing Tug-O-War.  The toad one is the most comical, she ate a peppermint toad adn turned into one afterwards. Also, Smelling good may lead to romantic attraction.

For my depth of Field photograph, I took a picture of a soy sauce bottle on the dinner table. I chose this because i remembered the assignment while I was eating dinner last night.

Project Graduation Tshirt Design

Object Series

For my object series I chose to photograph a few of my favorite earrings. I chose to put more of my elegant/sophisticated ones on the top row and my fun and spunky ones on the bottom. i didnt really have a color code or any other way of organizing it. I just wanted to depict the beauty of the earrings and the black background really helped.

Photo Journaling on Blurb.com

Using Blurb.com's Bookify, I created a book that captured my spring break. The two pages above were my favorite because they remind me of my surrealism project with the portal  to another world. I was shocked how nice the photos came out because I took them with my cellphone.

Last Photo Walk for Marking Period 3

This is my favorite picture from the photowalk because my photo journal theme is all about the world from eyes, meanign from the eyes of someone very small/short. The angle I took this photo is like the angle from which I see the rest of the world.

Surrealism 2012

For my surrealism project, I wanted a portal to another world. I this particualr photo, I'm looking at a portal to a cartoon world, which I found under a bridge. This is my concept because I secretly believe that there are portals to other worlds. People are always writing about them, and even some people claim to have gone through them. Maybe one day I'll walk under a bridge and find one. But for now, this photo is my only hope.

Color Theory Photo Walk

For My Color Pallete , I chose to do different shades of green, progressing from light to dark. I started out with the light pistachio green and finished with a dark forest green.

Surrealistic Artists

Yves Tanguy was born in Paris on January 5, 1900. Originally a Cadet in the French Merchant Navy, Tanguy was first inspired by a painting of Giorgio de Chirico. Without any formal training, Tanguy attempted to paint. In 1924 his friend pervert introduced to him to a small circle of surreal artists. In 1927 he held his first exhibition where his piece “Mama, Papa is Wounded!” was showcased. He had married, Kay Sage, who was also a surrealist painter. This caused him to move to America. He suffered from a stroke and passed away in 1955, “Imaginary Numbers” was his last painting. Although he was never as famous as Salvador Dali during his time, he was a big inspiration for the future generations.

Oleg Shuplyak, born 1967in the Ukraine. He studied architecture, but later became a surrealist oil painter. His images are famous for their illusion affect. Although there was minimal information about his personal life, there was a lot of praise about his strategically planned paintings. His paintings were all sceneries in nature but the objects made up faces of people like Shakespeare and Van Gogh. His hidden image of Darwin is a personal favorite.

Artist’s Name: Yves Tanguy

Title: Indefinite Divisibility

Date: 1942

Description: Objects making a tower, and casting a shadow. The background is a simple fade of white into blue. In the front right there is what looks like a catapult and water.

Analysis: This piece is asymmetrical. There is more going on vertically on the right hand side and more going on horizontally of the left. There is a good usage of tools and shadowing, making it look very realistic. The colors are rather bland and could be a little bolder.

Interpretation: At first this painting looks like a bunch of random objects on a canvas. But when you take a deeper look you can see much more. It looks as if someone is looking for a way out and is thinking of jumping into the water for freedom.

Judgment: All in all, I am not a great fan of Yves Tanguy. I do not understand why he is famous because although his paintings are surreal it is very difficult to find a deeper meaning. I may have to see more paintings of his to make a clear of judgement but I really did not like the work I saw so far.

Artist’s Name: Oleg Shuplyak

Title: Darwin

Date: 2008

Description: a face made from trees and a nature landscape, also have a lady talking to a cloaked man.

Analysis: The landscape is very beautiful but the face it creates is so much better. The woman on the side looks very peculiar and the cloak man makes the image a little eerie.

Interpretation: The illusion of Darwin’s face gives depth to who he was. He wasn’t someone you can read off the bat, he was someone you had to really look into.

Judgment: I really like this piece. I think it was very insightful and creative of Shuplyak to create such an illusion. I do wish I knew more about Darwin, because I feel that the woman and cloaked man have a lot of hidden significance.

Both of these artists have different styles. Tanguy uses objects to create a surreal image that doesn’t quite make sense until you analyze the image in depth. Shuplyak’s work tells more of a story, his scenery and hidden images make the mind wander. Both artists are painters and use surrealism in their own ways. While Tanguy was an inspiration for new generations, Shuplyak is a lot more modern. Tanguy’s color palette is very uniform through his work as is Shulpyak. They both use warmer tones and done really use anything bold. Their images blend well and make a statement to their audience.

Surrealistic Theme

For my surreal photomontage I want to make something impossible look real. As a child I loved the movie Thumbaline, and my idea is revolvedaround a small little world that people dont usually see.

1) I'm going to have an open palm of hands holding a leaf or flower. the leaf/flower will have a little world on it, like a small house with people  around it or little childen runing around.

In order to execute this i'm going to get  picture of palms off the internet, scan  drawing of a little world or scan a real leaf.  I will also photograph either people or  leaf.

Selective Coloring

I chose to color in the yello tag and the arrow because i feel like they popped out the most for my color selection. The whole backgrown adn extinguisher were origanally red.

30 day Challenge

For my 30 day challenge I used a picture of a heart as my pattern and I place my photographs to fit into place. It was reallly hard because the pictures were all squares and the top of the heart is curved. I found an image online that I like for the background. It clashed at first, so i adjusted the colors, this way the collage and the backgound are both visible.

Shadow Portrait

For my Shadow portrait, I used an giant flood light i found in my garage. I got my brother and dad to help me because I couldn't hold the light and flower while takin the picture. I wanted to use sunlight but i couldnt find any angles that worked. It was really tedious but I like the final outcome.

Hockney Project

This is my landscape picture for the Hockney project. I took it at Hollywood Studios in Orland while I was waiting for my brother to be done with the bathroom.  I had alot of trouble fixing the fence around the tree because some of the bars a thin but in the en i think it came out okay. I havent finished my Portrait picture yet but it will be posted soon.

This is a Portrait of my brother at Orlando International airport. He was really tired because it was 12 am and we had just spent the last four days walking around amuement parks. He would sit still or keep his eye or lips in the same position so it was really hard to find the right photos for the project. I dont really like this but i really didnt have much time to do it.

Photo Walk 3/9

This is my favorite photo from the photo walk because it goes to show how peculiar some people are. Why would you have your pillow and comforter sticking out of your window? I guess they had a pretty rough night.

Portrait Series

Naman Shah, A Baseball Fanatic
People say a photo is worth a million words. That’s exactly what my photo does. My model is an avid baseball fanatic. This portrait series depicts his enthusiasm and dedication towards baseball. I wanted my series to tell a story. He started off as a child playing catch during a moment of boredom, but as time progressed he went on to become a professional player.
This series was originally shot in color at a straight forward angle, but the effect was much greater when it was converted to grayscale. I want people to be inspired by this series, to take their hobby to the next level. Who knows, my model just may be the next Alex Rodriguez.

Photo Walk 2/16

I find this photograph interesting because although every desk is the same, the contents of the desk tops are different according to student that sits in them. the rhythm of the desks adds a deeper effect to the photograph.

The Annoyance of Snow

The snow can be very annoying for me BECAUSE I HATE CLEANING IT. I wish it never snowed, why cant it just rain? Although, the snow can be very beautiful, i wish there was a way for it to clean itself up.

Artistic Inspirations

David Graham Photography

David Graham travels across the country to take inspirational photographs like the one above. This particular photo is a part of his “Almost Paradise” collection and it was taken in Burbank. The painting behind the car does seem like paradise, the perfect fruit tree on a bright and cloudless day almost makes you want to escape into the picture itself.

Shakespeare's House, Stratford

In this photograph Alan Klug captures the true beauty of the house in every aspect. Every little detail of the flowers and the vines on the house is captured, I feel as if I could almost touch them. These photographs of his really inspire me to make my photos have more depth like his.

Anna 17, Winchester MA, 2009

Rania Matar’s “A Girl and her Room” collection really inspired me. It shows that no matter what a girl may like or how she looks, her room is something that keeps her safe. Every room is unique as the girl that it beholds. Matar’s photography really inspired me to take a deeper look into the rooms she has photographed.

Crystal Gayle Zacharias

Kitchen Wall Art, By Crystal Gayle Zacharias is inspiration because of its precision and sharpness, you could almost grab the peppers. This picture inspires me to sharpen my photographs and make them look as real.

Barnett Newman

Barnett Newman wasn't really unappreciated until the end of his career. His abstract paintings are highly motivational and his usage of bold colors caught my eyes.
